You can barely move for the hype newcomers White Lies have been getting since last year. As the band's debut album 'To Lose My Life' is just weeks away from release, the title song provides their welcome new single.
With just three members to their name, this loud London trio make the kind of broody, melancholic indie that will fit snugly between your Joy Division and Echo and The Bunnymen CDs. As though born from the same crop, they merge the finer points of their influences - the atmospheric production, doom-gladen lyrics ("Let's grow old together and die at the same time"), gutter-guitar riffs, 80s new-wave, space-rock keyboards, a disco back-beat and gothic vocals.
Move over The Bravery, step aside Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, White Lies are the new moody-rockers on the scene, guaranteed to be cramming tents at the Summer festivals.
