The Virgins - One Week Of Danger

Taking the heart and soul of like-minded New Yorkers The Strokes, combined with the glammed-up post-Velvets riffage of the Dandy Warhols, The Virgins are on the right direction with their latest UK single 'One Week Of Danger'.

This is a band who tick all the right boxes to ensure they fall on the right side of what's hot, and what's not. They flaunt a cool-without-trying visual image, their chugging guitars and muffled vocals absorb a retro cool found on your favourite 70s records, and overall, they make a tune that's pretty damn infectious, yet sounds so careless and hastily slung together it could have been written in a 10-minute jam.

If only Julian Casablancas and Co. hadn't pipped them to the chase, The Virgins would be the NME's choice of cover star. The band's self-titled new album is out now.
