The Go! Team - The Power Is On

The Go! Team first sprung into action last year, with their debut single 'Junior Kickstart' - a barrage of acid-fried punkage and Primal Scream tendencies which saw the band's placement in many end of year charts.

Impact-wise, 'The Power Is On' is as equally raucous as it's predecessor and torn somewhere between hip-hop, and the sassy femme-funk-punk that was ESG. A rousing, high-energy collection of hip-hop beats and sampled horn sections blast out in true party style, in a bizarre partnership of Wu Tang Clan meets Lemon Jelly.

The B-side 'Hold Yr Terror Close' is a non-so typical low-key affair, that not only bares no resemblance genre-wise to the title track, but is the obvious key moment. A seemingly faultless melancholic piano-piece, with heartfelt vocals hidden in the distance, it's the ideal come-down to the pill-fest that is 'The Power Is On'.

The Go! Team are evidently an exciting band who can't be tainted, or prohibited by a single, lazy pigeon-hole.
