Roots Manuva - Again & Again

If you thought the upbeat nature of Roots Manuva's last single, the dancehall-riddled Buff Nuff was a one-off, think again - 'Slime & Reason's second single 'Again & Again' is more fun-time, Summer goodness.

Speaking of the season, there was some obvious timing for the feel-good factor of Mr Roots' latest offering, let down only by nature's refusal to give us any glimpse of sun this August. It's no biggie though, the song is carried by its own obvious strengths - Manuva's rich-vocal and easy-going rap style, a carnival reggae-esque vibe from producer Shy-FX, built around trumpets and dubbish bass, and the humorous Video tops the package off.

It's not on the same level as 'Witness', but this has hit written all over it - so why isn't radio and TV jamming it down our throats instead of the talentless Alphabeat and Katy Perry? Sometimes, you just can't win.
