Rihanna has released some truly memorable pop gems in her 5 years at the top of the charts. A quick peek at her most recent discography and hits like 'Umbrella', 'Shut Up And Drive' and 'Disturbia' from her last album 'Good Girl Gone Bad', instantly jump out - so it's of little wonder RiRi has became such a beloved name to fans of pop and R&B.
'Russian Roulette' is the first we've heard from the Barbadian beauty since ex-boyfriend Chris Brown assaulted her earlier this year, and is the first song from the album 'Rated R'.
Disappointment (especially for an anticipated comeback) doesn't even begin to describe the song, a co-wrote with Ne-Yo. A dreary, teary slow-tempo ballad that would by all means easily pass as an album highlight - especially with the personal lyrics - 'Russian Roulette' is however, not a worldwide hit to rival those aforementioned hits.
Back to those lyrics, who many believe speak about that incident, an emotive Ri offers up the heart-break factor in lines that include, "As my life flashes before my eyes I’m wondering will I ever see another sunrise?" and "But it’s too late to think of the value of my life."
Rihanna isn't getting the excitement factor running with 'Russian Roulette', but with the recently leaked 'Wait Your Turn' saving the day, 'Rated R' at least shows some promise.
