Well Radiohead finally get around to releasing that annoying track being hammered on every Radio station and fast food outlet for the last month. As a taster for the new album it's an okay number, but not a huge departure from their previous work.
It's a very, very typical Radiohead affair, which, without a doubt owes more to their 'OK Computer' era as opposed to the recent 'Amnesiac' and 'Kid A'. This is mainly due to the mixed reactions from fans around the time of their releases. Besides some nice tribal sounding drums which pound their way through the majority of the song, nothing else happens. Thom Yorke wails (as usual) in his undecipherable slur, whilst Johnny Greenwood knocks out a pointless guitar riff (as usual).
The main fault is there's no real melody or strong song structure, it's very bland and weak. For a comeback single by any band this would be disappointing, let alone a band who have so much (unnecessary) hype surrounding them. Their last true comeback single was 'Paranoid Android' and at least they did that in style.
It's apparent Radiohead are no longer important or relevant. Oh, and the intro sounds like The Dandy Warhol's 'Bohemian Like You', no really, listen again..
