Well no one can accuse Pixie Lott of being predictable or playing it easy, by her decision to release 'Girls And Boys' as her second single. With her 60s soul-tinged debut 'Mama Do' flying straight to number one last May, you would think the Essex singer's label would have done the obvious thing and released another slice of vintage Winehouse-fuelled music - but no - Ms. Lott has spruced up the tempo factor and added a pinch of electropop to the mix.
Now, the sound of another electropop diva might be exactly what you're not after of right now (heaven knows there's enough knocking about the charts as we speak), but 'Girls and Boys' is an infectious little number if we ever heard one. Keeping some of the brassy, sassy soul of her debut, parts of this single are like Christina Aguilera's 'Ain't No Other Man', mixed with Rihanna's 'Shut Up And Drive'.
A snappy beat, a mix of old and new, epic vocals, and catchier than flu in winter chorus... is there anything else you need in a fun pop single?
