After five albums the angsty rock chick thing still doesn't seem like a duff idea when it's coming from queen of pop rock Pink. Never a singer to beat around the bush (or hold back on her opinions), 'Sober' as you rightly guessed, is a track about the deadly drink - inspired by a party she hosted, where she was the only one in attendance not under the influence.
If the mere mention of the song doesn't leave you feeling quesier than sea-sickness from the crazy amount of radio airplay, it's actually a pretty decent track by all accounts. It's a semi-tearful pop-power ballad and the melancholic guitars fit the equally melancholic vocals like a glove. And it's a grower; it doesn't pack the weighty knock-em-out punch of So What, but given a few more spins and the long-lasting rewards are just as great.
