New Kids On The Block were the original boyband, long before Backstreet Boys and Take That. Their debut album was released in 1986 and they split in 1994, so when they reunited in 2008, you'd think they might have adapted their name now that they're all in their late 30's...
It's always a risk to have old groups reform years later. Will they have adapted their style to fit in with the times? Will they still think they're teenagers in the 80's? Luckily the New Kids seem to have done quite well in their choice of comeback single 'Summertime'.
'Summertime' is the first single from their next album 'The Block' and like Take That, they seem to have managed to take their sound up to date. The song is definitely a good summer track and close you're eyes - you'd never guess their age!
It sounds as good as any new boybands out there, a nice laid back poppy R&B song that doesn't sound dated or too cheesy. The video is a reminder of who you're actually listening to, but like I said before... Close your eyes!
