Nelly Furtado's new full length LP 'Mi Plan' - an all Spanish-launguage record - may not be every fan's ideal choice of listening, a sentiment proved further by the disappointing first single 'Manos Al Aire'. It isn't the most obvious of songs to come from the 'Maneater' star, in fact its slower mid-paced tempo is far more suited to an album song, rather than a leading first single set to draw interest in the record.
Even if you don't understand a word to come from Nurtado's mouth, there isn't much to musically to keep you entertained. There are some choppy acoustic guitar strums, percussion and live drums with a slight dance twist, but so stripped bare that it sounds more like a demo recording. There is some saving grace in the catchy chorus, made more dramatic by the sweeping string accompaniments, but it still lacks a distinct X factor to warrant repeated attention.
