Considering Metro Station name New Order and The Postal Service as influences, you'd think you were hearing a different band listening to the emo-tronics and pop-rock of their UK debut single 'Shake It'. That's not a bad thing though, as there is one major factor that you won't be able to ignore - and that's the tsunami-sized chorus that gives a whole new meaning to the word infectious.
Frontman Trace Cyrus loans his breathy, whisperish vocals to a combo of very-now (thanks to a re-interest in Depeche Mode and electropop stars like Lady GaGa nudging their way into the top 5) synths and drum machines. The chorus - all strutty-vocals and chug-bass - screams for stadium-sized venues. Or at least a large chunk of radio airspace.
Three weeks since we first heard the song and 'Shake It' is still getting attention on the office stereo. It isn't hard to hear why Metro Station's self-titled debut has been selling by the truckload in the US since 2007.
