Hot producer RedOne has done it again. Being the name on just about everybody's lips right now, Blackpool's synth-obsessed Little Boots couldn't go wrong in co-writing with the studio blitz behind Lady Gaga's string of hits ('Poker Face', 'Just Dance', 'Paparazzi'), on her latest single.
If she got you a little hooked with 'New In Town', prepare to be completely smitten with 'Remedy'. It's a huge-sounding 3-minutes-plus of uptempo mainstream electropop, but there's a dark and almost sinister side to her vocals in the opening bars. The chorus on the other hand, is pure pop gold - morphing futuristic synthy sounds and thick clubby beats, with a melody so catchy it makes swine flu seem like a small sniffle.
A singer shouldn't be making songs this special on her debut album; it's usually heavyweight pop queens like Kylie (who is well into her career) that deliver such gems. But it's why Little Boots has fast become the rising star of 2009.
