When Leona Lewis won last year's X Factor, the 23-year-old singer seemed like a breath of fresh air to radio airwaves. Her early singles - particularly 'Better In Time' and the classic 'Bleeding Love' - were exciting, full of genuine emotion and mainly, they felt like songs that would stand the test of time.
'Run' is a cover version of the Snow Patrol hit and is not the kind of gripping epic we've come to love from the UK's best vocalist. Her voice is good, sensational in fact - there's never any doubt there - but this is a teary, dreary ballad that bores the socks off these ears, especially when the Whitney Houston throat wobble takes in effect.
Leona's version doesn't differ too much from the original, so seems a wasted opportunity in tackling the song and occasionally, it feels as though Lewis is just running through the motions and bashing out a quick cash-in ballad.
