We've been so infatuated with the Katy Perry's and Pink's of the world, that in the last 12 months we've forgotten true Queen of Pop Rock, Kelly Clarkson.
Known for her biggest hit 'Since U Been Gone', the past American Idol winner has jumped back in the studio with the hit's songwriters Max Martin and Dr. Luke for comeback single 'My Life Would Suck Without You'. Obviously there are similarities to be heard, such as the jangly guitar intro, but it would be unfair to dismiss this as 'Since U Been Gone' Part 2.
There's a bit of a "very now" electropop feel going on (not too different from Perry's 'Hot 'N' Cold' - which incidentally, was also written by Martin / Luke) as well as the glamrock beats. And the whole shouty chorus "Cuz we belong together now, forever united here somehow", is the catchiest thing you'll hear this year.
It's been a while, but move over Katy and welcome back Kelly Clarkson - you've been sorely missed.
