Kasabian - Underdog

A disgruntled Kasabian protested at "lad rock" comparisons made to their music earlier this year, and they've also insisted their music isn't a rehash of retro bands. Yet, ironically, 'Underdog' is steeped in nostalgia and a swaggering pastiche on the Madchester scene.

What sounds like Led Zeppelin being re-imagined by a Happy Mondays tribute band (Yes Please era, though), the anthemic, cock-sure arrogance of 'Underdog' is the sound of football terrace chants or the kind of lad-rock backing heard on football programs - thus rubbishing their desire to be considered anything different.

Sure, this may sound good - if not great - after 10 pints at the V Festival, but otherwise what's left to enjoy?
