Jim Noir - A Quiet Man

Third EP in and the promise Jim Noir's first two EP's displayed show no trace of slowing down. A Quiet Man is another slab of 4 psych tinged pop gems, in a similar theme to the Eanie Meany and My Patch singles.

A Quiet Man itself is like a long forgotten Super Furry Animals track, as usual coated in Beach Boys and Beta Band influences. In fact this whole EP has a Beach Boys feel to it, from the layered harmonies to the melodies and Good Vibrations style keyboards on the close of I Me You I'm Your.

It's important to note that Noir's music is much more than simple folk or acoustic penned offerings; thrown into the slick blend of quirky lyrics and sugar coated pop melodies are moments of drum machine beats, twinkly electronics and samples of rainfall, overseen with Jim's skewed vision of alternative pop.

This is future acid-tinged folk for an iPod generation and only a hint of greater things to come.
