Ida Maria - Oh My God

Punk-Norwegian-rocker Ida Maria loses some of the impact from her outlandish live shows on 'Oh My God' - a reissue of her debut single from the 'Fortress Around My Heart' album - though through no fault of her own.

Still, given the lack of raw production, it's not difficult to work out why this track caused excitable feedback on the blogosphere when it first hit the internet in 2007. Cascading guitars and the thud of frantic drumming wrestle with Maria's disorderly and boisterous vocal, for 2 minutes and 45 seconds of shouty, angsty, without-a-care in the world punk-pop.

In a time of soul-obsessed female vocalists dominating sales, it makes for welcome listening to hear some punch and power in the charts for once.
