Franz Ferdinand are back with a blast of reality. ‘Do You Want To’ is the first single to be taken from their upcoming album - ‘You Could Have It So Much Better…With Franz Ferdinand’. It is, as Kanye West put oh so aptly, a “white crunk” job.
Regardless of it’s clearly unimpressed, sarcastic undertones it’s dancy, it’s invigorating and it’s a nice refreshment from artsy indie pop.
The song tells the tale of our hero being chased after at a party with various “Do you want to…"’s, the twist being that he ‘doesn’t want to’. Instead, he stupidly gets really scared making his situation worse.
The catchy chorus and some nicely placed do dooo’s certainly do make for a good dance. The song intensifies with “Lucky lucky/You’re so lucky” which reflects the build up of heat on our hero, which is finally released with an ending “Yeeeeah”.
It’s catchy and it’s fun; it’s another anthemic Franz Ferdinand song.
