How to follow-up a single as popular as the top 15 hit 'Handlebars?' In the case of Denver, Colorado group Flobots, they drop another bombshell of a song from this year's excellent 'Fight With Tools' album (which can now be found in over half a million homes).
'Rise' is yet more of the band's politically-charged rap-rock hybrid, that has seen comparisons to influential global acts like Rage Against The Machine - a compliment sure, but is a tad lazy considering the band do have their own sound going on.
Forgetting the strong message in the lyrics, there are so many parts and influences on this song, that there is a chunk of something for every taste - tearful cellos, energetic rapping, a funky bass and guitar partnership that nods to the Chili Peppers, and a fist in the air chorus that makes the band sound 20-strong. Who knew politics could be so much fun.
