If Flo Rida learnt anything from last single 'Right Round', it's sampling a Europop song to ensure you have massive hit on your hands. With 'Sugar', Flo turns his attention to the 90s smash (or annoying novelty track depending on which way you look at it) 'Blue (Da Ba Dee)' by Eiffel 65. And while that may have you feeling a little sick to the stomach or reaching for the skip button, it's actually pretty good.
Rida is joined by up-and-coming R&B singer Wynter Gordon and the two add their own flirty blend of candy-inspired banter - especially in the chorus of Gordon's "My lips like sugar, this candy got you sprung", and Flo's response in "hey, I've got a mouth full of cavaties" and "you're givin' me a sugar rush".
In terms of catchiness, 'Sugar' is right up there with the best and this is almost definitely another number 1. It has the killer hooks, great vocals of Wynter (surely solo stardom beckons?), a fast-flowing rap and it's the kind of no-nonsense song that is going to sound great this summer blasting out from car stereos.
