Dizzee Rascal wasn't kidding when he said his next album would be a dance record. He's had a taste of major commercial success with last year's number one hit 'Dance Wiv Me' - a collaboration with Calvin Harris - and now he's hooked up with another club maestro for the follow-up. Armand Van Helden provides the backing for 'Bonkers', the next single from Rascal's fourth album 'Tongue 'N' Cheek'.
Helden does his usual tricks of booming beats and devastating bassline to secure this track goes down equally as well on the club dancefloor as it does in the charts. As for Dizzee, he's opted for a few quirky one-liners instead of hogging the song with detailed lyrics. He plays the role of a hedonistic clubber who only cares for "sex and violence" and claims that a "heavy bassline is my kind of silence."
From pirate radio grime MC to UK hip-hopper, Dizzee has never been shy of jumping ship with each release. But it looks as though his latest musical decision is his wisest yet when it comes to securing those high chart placements - 'Bonkers' is a guaranteed top 10 hit (and a club anthem in the making).
