David Cook - Light On

'Light On' is David Cook's first single since his American Idol winning track The Time Of My Life hit the charts.

This new song is much better suited to Cook's style. Where his previous release was pre-selected and had a very cheesy feel to it, 'Light On' is more guitar based and shows off David's strong, gruff vocals.

However, despite this song feeling more like David's kind of music, it's a very safe choice for a single and will effortlessly appeal to the mainstream rock followers of bands such as Nickleback. 'Light On' could easily have been plucked out of a movie soundtrack.

A slightly corny light-rock ballad, but nevertheless it's a definite step up from 'The Time Of My Life'. The chorus will stick in your head, but Cook needs to be more daring with his choice of songs, before he gets branded as boring before he's even been given a chance.
