Cage The Elephant - In One Ear

Energy, youth and passion can do wonders for a band, just look what it did for The Stooges, but sometimes that just isn't enough. Meet Cage The Elephant then - we're led to believe these youngsters are the best thing since sliced bread, and while they do pack a punch on their few singles thus far, it's becoming more and more blatant the Kentucky-quintet are mere copyists.

Big Led Zeppelin riffs and Red Hot Chili Peppers vocals, paired up with a rumbling bass and obligatory hammond organ - it doesn't sound like the future of rock from where we're standing. In reality they are more like a US version of Reef, making disposable radio friendly rock music that won't last in the grand scheme of things.

"It goes through one ear and right out the other" sings frontman Matt Shultz, which couldn't be a more fitter analysis of their own music, given the totally forgettable nature of the single. Will this band be with a deal this time next year? I wouldn't count on it.
