I can't help but feel I'm missing something about Cage The Elephant. Through word of mouth and plenty of embarassingly favourable reviews, I've been informed on more than one occasion that this band are really something to get excited about. But debut single Free Love sadly fails to hit me in the right places, if any at all.
Rage Against The Machine and Led Zeppelin have both been mentioned when comparisons Cage The Elephant, both of which have me dumbfounded, as the band are far from being anywhere the same league as these two great groups. Free Love plods along with a nice enough riff (you can see this being picked-up soon enough for a TV advert), only it's recycled so much for the 3 1/2 minutes, that there is nothing left to grab hold of or get excited about. Not even the lackluster vocals.
Unfortunately, I can't see Cage The Elephant making much of a splash with their debut offering.
