Black Kids - Look At Me (When I Rock Wichoo)

'Look At Me' is only the third single to date from Black Kids and it feels like it - they still have that fresh appeal and contagious vibrancy that tends to get lost around most band's second or third LP.

With debut full-lengther Partie Traumatic they risked disappointing fans - so heavy was the weight of expectation on the newcomers from feedback of their earlier songs - but thankfully they triumphed, and the album is easily one of the better records of 2008 (just wait to see this a fixture in many top 10 lists in December).

'Look At Me' is a fair reflection of the overall Black Kids sound and the general feel to the album - taking on board bouncy hedonism, a disco backbeat, backing singers that come across like a bunch of cheerleaders chanting nursery-rhymes, lo-fi synths that haven't been heard since the late 70s / early 80s and the fragile-romantics of Reggie Youngblood's vocals.

Worth the hype? No question about it.
