Forget everything you know about Alexandra Burke for a minute. Forget her 'debut' single was a duller-than-dishwater ballad cover of Leonard Cohen's over-saturated 'Hallelujah', and try and shake loose any similarities to a certain other winner of The X Factor, because 'Bad Boys' is going to turn more than a few heads.
Those expecting - or wanting - another soppy ballad should close the door quietly behind them, as Alex has jumped on board the current electropop bandwagon - but we're all for it when she's presenting songs like this. 'Bad Boys' is a collaboration with US rapper Flo Rida, whose contribution could, and should, be dropped from the song as he has nothing to offer as such.
Alex sings about being attracted to bad boys (a theme she can relate to), while producers The Phantom Boyz dish out a mix of swirling in-your-face sirens, huge danceable beats and the melody is to die for (this has been in our heads since it leaked back in August).
Burke was always going to do well with the backing of X Factor and Cowell, but even if she didn't have such a strong team behind her she'd be storming the high end of the charts releasing pop beauties like this.
