In a world currently obsessed with the 80's, there has to be some limits. Not everything about the era was a good idea and people have to realise this. Sun-In ruined a huge percentage of people's hair, but it's making a comeback, and puffball skirts give you heffalump hips, yet now they're all the rage again.
'Don't Stop Looking' represents everything bad about that period. From it's annoying cheesy tune to the 80's fashion show of a video, this is taking retro one step too far. Bringing an aspect of that decade into your music is fine, and many artists today are doing it very successfully, but to envelop the entire music style of an era is really too much.
Unfortunately, the 80's is the latest trend, and many people will no doubt enjoy the kookiness of this song - it is catchy afterall. But the fear for Alex Roots is will this be a one hit wonder? When the fashion has changed and we've moved back to Britpop - or any other previous music fad, will she be able to adapt to still fit in? Or will 'Don't Stop Looking' be hello and goodbye to the 16-year-old singer?
