Late Of The Pier - Heartbeat
[Zarcorp]

With Franz Ferdinand admittingly toying around with synths on their forthcoming third album, they may have been already pipped-to-the-finish by Late Of The Pier.

New single 'Heartbeat' crosses the line between art-rock, camp-rock, new-wave and naff keyboards, that could only sound great when accompanied by the thumping 4/4 disco-backed beat and equally cheap guitars. Like their singles so far, they've displayed experimental abilities, the instantanous indie-disco anthem, the strange, the wonderful and perfect genre-swopping.

Sounding not like anything else rocking the indie record shelves in the last 12 months, this Castle Donington lot should be getting more attention than is currently greeting them and yet we insist on jumping on everything Alex Turner throws our way. To quote frontman Samuel Eastgate, it's a fickle life.
