Hayden Panettiere - Wake Up Call

Hayden Panettiere is most famous for her role as gorgeous cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes, but she's now decided to start a career in music - although not for the first time.

Prior to Heroes, Hayden had made music before (for various movie soundtracks), but had put it on hold for her role on the hit TV show. Having heard some of the previous songs on her MySpace page like 'I Still Believe' and 'I Try', I was quite looking forward to her debut single. The past songs are very reminiscent of Hilary Duff and Stephanie Macintosh, but 'Wake Up Call' has a totally different sound.

It's quite a good song but sounds very similar to Paris Hilton's 'Stars Are Blind', in that it has a bit of a pop-reggae feel and is fairly catchy. However, there is a part in the song where she does a little rap thing and it makes you cringe - but luckily it only lasts for ten seconds!

Don't let this song affect your opinion of Hayden Panettiere as a singer. From hearing her previous music I know that she does have a good voice and although I'm not overly keen on the song itself, it's not too bad after a couple of listens.

Also, she's not just jumping on the bandwagon of other actors-turned singers, this was a passion she had before she became a TV star, and that's an important thing to know if you're not going to judge her straight away.
