The Dodos - Red And Purple
[Wichita]

Released earlier this year Stateside, second album 'Visiter' from San Francisco duo The Dodos was handed reviews of the favourable kind in March. Now the duo, who have coined their own mish-mash of psych-pop and indie-rock, deliver the goods on the UK front with this single 'Red And Purple'.

Taking the sonic-folk blueprint of Animal Collective 's 'Sung Tongs', 'Red And Purple' is a relentless barrage of rhythmic gymnastics - the skittering repetition of strummed acoustic guitars, the sound of a hundred men clattering various percussion instruments, a booming tribal-wired bass drum and all this, believe it or not, comes the hands of just two men - Meric Long and Logan Kroeber.

It's of little wonder our American cousins give the weirdy folk-pop demons the thumbs up, and it won't be long before they're embraced in similar measure here.
