Maroon 5 - If I Never See Your Face Again Feat. Rihanna
[Polydor]

One of these days Rihanna will stop releasing songs from her 'Good Girl Gone Bad' album (and subsequent expanded re-release Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded) and actually get to work on her next album. As it stands, the singer's collaboration with Maroon 5 - 'If I Never See Your Face Again' - is the sixth single from the record - and the seventh has already been confirmed as 'Disturbia'.

The bargain-bin synths, latin percussion intro and faux-funk-disco tendencies do little to retain attention for the soft-rock-pop track, which really is no more than a pair of desirable high-profile names coming together to sell records, triumphing over any hint of a good tune.

After her run of brilliant pop singles ('Umbrella', 'Shut Up And Drive', Don't Stop The Music), 'If I Never See Your Face Again' has ruined the singer's flawless release schedule in the last year, much like finding a fag burn in your carpet the morning after a great house party. In other words, as the true Queen of Pop (get out of the way Madge), Rihanna is wasted here.
