The Black Keys - I Got Mine
[V2]

After a meagre six years on the scene and impressive five albums later, The Black Keys creative fountain is showing no signs of stopping its spurting of muddy blues-infused rock. And with such a reliable formula for seemingly effortless but astounding tracks, there’s no reason why it should.

Lyrically, simplicity is they key with ‘I Got Mine’ as it nods towards the American dream sentiment of a Kerouac-esque loner wandering around in his youth, “I was a movin' man / In my younger days / But I've grown out / Of my ramblin' ways”.
Comparisons to The White Stripes exist only in their band-member count, as The Black Keys unique, candid sound is much more laid back, Auerbach’s almost off-the-cuff quality riffs mingling with Carney’s ambling, bluesy drum beats.

The Black Keys are here to remind us of what we already knew but may have forgotten lately in a haze of synths, mixing decks and gospel sized line ups- it’s incredible what can be achieved with a pure passion for music and an old guitar.
