Jesse McCartney - Leavin'
[Angel]

Taken from his third solo album 'Departure', I was pleasantly suprised by the latest single from Jesse McCartney (or "Jesse Mac" according to his website address), 'Leavin'. Taking on a more grown up R&B sound, 'Leavin' is a catchy little number with a strong summer vibe, that actually managed to get my foot tapping.

Not usually a fan of cheesy R&B, I was a bit dubious when I first heard the single. Not only does Jesse look rather young for his 21 years (something that will win over many teenage girls hearts), but the first part of the song did sound a little too "icky" for me. As soon as the chorus kicked in though, it was so catchy that I couldn't help but like it - and now it won't leave my head.

Jesse McCartney was the writer of Leona Lewis' massive hit 'Bleeding Love' and originally it was penned for himself. Although Leona has had huge success with the song, I can't help but feel sorry for Jesse for giving away such an obvious hit. Hopefully though, 'Leaving' will do his career as much good as if he'd kept 'Bleeding Love' for himself, but it's doubtful.

The main real fault with this single is pretty minor but something that's a little pet hate of mine... I always cringe when I hear a white guy referring to himself as "fly". Other than that, 'Leaving' is a nice little song and not the soppy, teeny tune that I was expecting to hear.
