For a group snubbed by some for their "ironic" band name, or passed-off as another scene-hugging group destined to be stuck in a 5 minute fad like 'Nu Rave', Does It Offend You, Yeah? are certainly proving the haters wrong with a track like 'Epic Last Song' - the latest single from the album 'You Have No Idea What Youre Getting Yourself Into'.

Here the band move away from the neon-writing and flashing images that adorns their record covers and website, or the synth-heavy hyperactivity of their usual output, instead writing a fairly enjoyable tune that could well be the band's skewed idea of a ballad. Here we find the group riding a post-Franz wave, all guitar-jerking, disco rippled drums and it's great to hear them not leaning too much towards an influence of French-house for once.

Although not one of their more immediate moments, nor original by any means, it is a path that wouldn't hurt the four-piece if they continued to walk it. Perhaps with time though, we'll find Does It Offend You, Yeah? mature in songwriting terms, venturing away the general goofiness that has spawned song titles like 'Attack Of The 60ft Lesbian Octopus'. This however, is surprisingly good stuff.
