Madonna - 4 Minutes (Feat. Justin Timberlake)
[Warners]

Madonna; the ever-changing "Queen Of Pop" is never one to miss out on a bandwagon and in this case, why it's only rent-a-producer Timbaland who will be giving her another gold disc for the wall collection. '4 Minutes' is the upfront first single from 'Hard Candy' - the Justin Timberlake collaboration that has been spun incessantly on radio (and the one you've been mistaking for Nelly Furtado - sorry Madge).

'4 Minutes' is the one with the booming synthesized horns and electro-bass, joined by a carnival of percussion and multi-vocal chorus that captures the vibe of a house party: something most producers fail in achieving. In short, it is one of the better pop songs to come from Timbaland - it's up there with 'Give It To Me' or 'SexyBack'.

But has she still got it? Well, it's difficult to say on the strength of '4 Minutes'; beneath the upfront multi-layered backing music and Justin's dominating vocal, so pushed-aside is her input that Madonna sounds like a guest on her own track. But then, when was the quality of a song ever based on who can hog the mic for the longest?

This is a true guilty listening pleasure, but Madonna's 'Hard Candy' is seeming really appetising right now - pass me the box.
