Brighton, South England plays home to these relative newcomers but you wouldn't know it, so American sounding is their take on guitar-pop. It is safe to state that 4 or 5 Magicians listen to all the great jangly US bands that instantly spring to mind; Pavement, Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Built To Spell - even their MySpace proudly names these as influences, so we won't write them off as passing this as unique.

Unfortunately, this is where the band will ultimately suffer. It is fun, attention-gaining, instantly pleasing etc, but that's as far as either of these two tracks go. Once the initial foot-tapping, catchiness has faded, you soon realise that neither Change The Record or Ideal Man offer anything new or unique. Rather ironically, the lead song includes the line, "Wakey, wakey everyone, set the radio to 'stun', this is your new number one", something that couldn't be further from the truth.
