Dozal Brothers - We Wanna Sniff Some Glue
[I Blame The Parents]

It’s been a terrific start to 2008 for El Paso’s Dozal Brothers. Swiftly following a slot at Austin’s SXSW Festival, comes the “We Wanna Sniff Some Glue” single unleashed by the newly-founded, homegrown I Blame the Parents imprint in the UK.

The work of Count Sticky and Grand Master Cranky (that’s Gabe and Robert Dozal to their parents) “We Wanna...” is a luminous hybrid of campy electroclash and visceral punk. An insistent mix of swaying Casiotone melodies, lo-fi megaphone chants and sheets of feedback are driven by sleaze-ridden staccato beats, like the soundtrack to some massive android rave. B-side “Zombie Revolution” is much the same, only with an extra dose of colourful chaos layered atop

What these tracks lack in deft instrumentation is more than made up for by a refreshing pretenseless delivery. As Mick Jagger once so eloquently put it – “...it’s only rock ‘n’ roll, but I like it”.
