Taking off with a sauntering guitar swagger then pitching a tent in between the land of The Enemy and the melodic pastures of Supergass with mod territory still in clear view. Is where you will find The Steers on the musical map, showcasing catchy hooks and an echoing loft. Lead pitcher, James Rowland is backed with a distant mystique by Sid Nadir, as the vocals use firmness to capture a typical situation of love and the woes of being entangled in its silky web.
‘The Same Game’, uses an atmospheric lob, coating the slower Damon Albarn matching vocals of Rowland. That bemused Brit-pop push has obviously been well practised over the years, in their rehearsal room of Sid’s bedroom. Early signs from this and other material out there tend to suggest that The Steers are on a helicopter course to becoming this year’s Bloc Party.
