The Metros - Education Pt. 2
[1965 Records]

The Metros will have no trouble doing commercially well - they fall into the same category as British bands like Babyshambles and The Libertines. In fact, do a little digging and it is of little surprise to discover the lads were picked-up by 1965 Records - a label run by James Endeacott, who signed The Strokes and The Libertines when he was part of Rough Trade.

The Peckham band jostle up soft rock, a slap of shouty punk and jangly indie, but it all plods along so aimlessly and so thinly, it is just so utterly boring and unforgivable. The lyrics are just as shoddy and mind-numbingly forgettable, with inane subjects as "education being overrated" and getting ASBO's.

The Metros are pushing in an obvious direction and playing too much of a safe option, as a means of being accepted - if that is the case, then what is the point? Even crap like The Pigeon Detectives and The View are doing this AND to a much greater finish.

By the time the CD was over, there was nothing whatsoever to recall from the song and this promo had three versions of the track on it! For a debut effort, making a splash is unlikely to occur.
