The Whip - Trash
[Southern Fried]

Fierce, intense, menacing; just three words that instantly come to mind when you hear a name as striking as The Whip. Where many have fallen foul to a misleading band title before, these four dance-fiends surpass the powerful imagery surrounding their namesake. Trash is a single (almost) as raw as their live shows; no mean feat as the stage is where this band are really at home. But The Whip are in good hands, with producer Jim Abiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian) really capturing what the band is all about - rhythm heavy, synth-tinged indie-dance.

After a pulsating electronic start, a rumbling bass and steady 4/4 beat kick Trash into place before the sleazy vocals of "I wanna be trash!" step-in. This Manchester four-piece make the kind of music you'd expect from Simian Mobile Disco if they ever tried their hand at making indie, or if you want to be really lazy, like a moodier, early New Order. The Whip are on tour this May, don't miss out.
