Gallows - Just Because You Sleep Next To Me Doesn't Mean You're Safe
[Warners]

Until now, Gallows' singles have been more than a disappointment; a let-down considering the praise this band have achieved just one album deep into their recording catalogue. Leaving behind the flat-rock of their past singles, Just Because You Sleep Next To Me Doesn't Mean You're Safe has a menacing title that the song more than lives up to.

We finally get to hear the intense, mental sledge-hammer intensity of the UK's answer to Queens Of The Stone Age. It is impossible to not lose yourself in the intensity of the song, without convincing yourself you're in a sweaty, blood-stained venue witnessing the band tear-apart the stage in front of you; so strong and anxious is the recording of the band here.

Frank Carter sounds like hell on Earth; his vocals tormented, possessed, frantic. Likewise, the band shake the room with their doom-driven hardcore punk - guitars fire like a spike through the arm, the bass shakes the room like an earth-quake and the drums are likely to leave repeated listeners with tinitus.

If the band can only capture this intensity on their second album, the world is surely their's for the taking.
