If you thought the magical-pop qualities of Those Dancing Days was a one-off on their eponymous EP last year (review), think again. Second single (well at least in the UK) Hitten rivals their bold introduction in terms of its addictive and instantaneous qualities.
While not as urgent as their debut, there is still the same charming naivety to their lack of instument skills. An off-key synth melody weaves around the simplest of jangly guitar chords, for a fun listening experience that merges catchy 80's synth-pop and Northern Soul. But one thing you can't fail to miss, is their lead weapon in front woman Linnea - a singer who has a such a strong, soulful voice that far surpasses her years.
Hitten translates to "hit" in Swedish to English. You can't help but feel if this single was given a much larger push it could be just that - a sure-fire top 10 hit for the band. For now, we'll just be greedy in the knowledge we know about this fun band.
