Radiohead - Jigsaw Falling Into Place
[XL Recordings]

Radiohead are starting to bug me as of late - not musically I might add, but the incessant marketing and promotion the band are doing on an almost hourly basis since the release of In Rainbows. It's almost got to the point where you forget the band are just that - a band, who make music. If we can just forget the free download, green tours and inflated ticket prices column inches, the first single from In Rainbows is Jigsaw Falling Into Place.

Being such a strong album, it is difficult to pinpoint the strongest tracks on there, but many fans will attest that the song is arguably one of the finest moment on the band's excellent seventh studio album. A return to form in many eyes (well, those who detested the group's tinkering with electronica on Kid A and Amnesiac), In Rainbows can be seen as the 'head's greatest album since OK Computer and Jigsaw Falling Into Place shows just why those kind of opinions are whizzing through cyberspace.

After a plucked guitar intro, spiralling drums and those spooky Gregorian vocals, it could be seen that Radiohead are treading familiar, safe ground (it really does sound like a lost OK Computer track), but then this is a unique niche the band created for themselves, so why shouldn't they perform what they know and what they do best? This is likely to please the (huge) fanbase, but is so accessible that daytime radio play is guaranteed, and the group may well have another hit single to add to the catalogue.

It's been said before and it's moments like these which confirm it; there really is no other mainstream band out there on the same lavel, who constantly make as strong and experimental music as Radiohead. Don't expect these guys to change anytime soon either.
