The Go! Team - The Wrath Of Marcie
[Memphis Industries]

The problem with The Go! Team is that no matter how much they've crafted their own niche and their own instantly recognisable sound, their music is heard absolutely everywhere. From TV shows and adverts, to clothes shop background music, there's no escaping the band's unique and distinctive compositions. Sadly by now, the uniqueness which made debut Thunder, Lightning, Strike so incredible, has been watered down to an almost ignorable quality.

New single The Wrath Of Marcie has everything a classic Go! Team single should have; Stax horns, heavy rhythms, electro beats and rapping, 60s girl pop group vocal groups and the sound of what could be 50 simultaneously drummers playing at the same time. But, and it's a big but, it's all become a bit predictable. It's difficult to see how the band will expand from here - so many ideas and influences are featured in their music, they've left little room to move ahead and on the other hand, if they don't change direction with their third longplayer, The Go! Team will get continue to lose their thrill factor.
