It's virtually impossible to describe an Animal Collective song accurately, for the simple reason that there is so much going on; so many constantly changing directions, twists and turns.
With new single Fireworks, Animal Collective have again crafted a chunk of space-pop that shape-shifts and morphs at every possible chance, unveiling new delights with each listen.
Strangely though, with so many ingredients chopped-up and glued back together, the single works on so many levels - it has elements of loose jamming, experimenting and surprising chord changes, but it still manages to be one of the most poppier Animal Collective moments.
It's alien freak-pop created a whole galaxy away from traditional song-writing and this is what makes Animal Collective so special; they do their own thing, not worrying about trends, accessibility or selling a truckload of units.
