There's been a slight fanfare surrounding Correcto, which judging by first single Joni, is highly unfounded. A "supergroup" of sorts, two of their members are likely to be familiar to you already if you follow Domino-affiliated Glaswegian indie bands; Patrick from The Royal We is on bass and Franz Ferdinand sticksman Paul Thomson can be found on drums.
Joni is jangly, sparkly pop-punk with those chugging guitars you'll be more than familiar with, for the band are treading on a surface that has been walked upon numerous times before. The lyrics are equally as twee and nausiating, with a nursery-rhyme-like chorus of "Joni, Joni, I would eat a fish eye, to have you by my side."
It's not that Correcto are the worst band to arrive in 2007; they're just a tad disappointing and have an overall bland and predictable sound, plus there are many, many bands out there far more deserving of column inches and blog space (they just don't have a member of Franz in their line-up).
