Gallows - Staring At The Rude Bois
[Warners]

What is it about genre crossovers *and* cover versions that always sound so bad? This time we get Gallows (punk rock, saviours of UK rock and the best thing since sliced

bread, apparently) and Lethal Bizzle (Grime) collaborating on a remake of Staring At The Rude Boys by The Ruts and boy, does it really disappoint.

Musically, the new version seems tame in comparison to the original. The guitars, bass and drums are all significantly flat, and vocally both front men (Bizzle and Carter) sound like they can barely make the effort to even pick-up their microphones.

Maybe the high NME cool list ranking of front man Frank Carter was correct, as this is just music made for the mainstream, made for the charts and made for sound-tracking Match of The Day and the like. Nothing more, nothing less - what the fuck were Gallows thinking?
