Hadouken! are a prime example of where pushing sites like MySpace and YouTube can really get you these days. Having built up a fairly solid following already with only one other release previously behind them (That Boy, That Girl), Liquid Lives is their second stab at a single.
The music is very now too, as the band have absorbed grime basslines and sound effects into the mix and even front man James' vocals border on a semi-rap route. The band rather safely, touch on a very obvious subject; the actions of drink-fuelled idiots, ranging from a man beaten up in the pub after trying it on with someone else's girlfriend, to a drink driver who takes the lives of two others.
"I wanna drink drink drink, smoke, f*** fight" proclaims the chorus and with it you can almost picture the band's dayglo sporting, smiley faced covered fanbase going crazy during a live show. They are fun, here's no question about that. But don't expect Hadouken! to be dropping anything life-affirming any time soon - this is music for the stage and music for the clubs, which is where perhaps, you'd be better off checking out the band.
