Kid Acne - Worst Luck
[Lex Records]

"I got two phones like a drug dealer, two phones like a drug dealer". Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of UK rapper Kid Acne and his unique tongue-in-cheek approach.

But before we all get off on the wrong foot, let's got one thing sorted; these words are not to be taken literally and this is not the usual self-obsessed lyrics you'd get from a mainstream rapper. The Yorkshire-based wordsmith doesn't take himself too seriously and likes a bit of humour in his rhymes, without travelling down the novelty, throwaway rap route.

In fact Kid Acne is now three albums deep into a successful career that has landed him collaborations with Infinitive Livez and his producer is the mighty Req One. Worst Luck, the first single from LP number 3, is typically old school in a South Bronx style, with fatter than streaky bacon beats and rhymes even more witty than 2003's Council Pop.

Worst Luck proves Kid Acne is still as sharp on the mic as he's ever been and if the album is chock-a-block with more gems like this, Romance Isn't Dead won't be disappointing anyone.
