The Hedrons - Heatseeker
[Measured Records]

Despite having been together since 2005, supporting Alice In Chains and doing the rounds at last year's festivals, all girl Glaswegian four piece The Hedrons have yet to release their debut album. However, before it hits the shelves in February, the band are dragging the suspense out a little further by releasing Heatseeker, their third single so far.

The rhythm sounds like some of Blur's finest Song 2 strums mixed with Nirvana's more placid moments and headed by four self-assured, commanding grunge inspired women. The deep, drowsy bass lines and trailing guitar riffs challenge front woman Tippi's featherweight vocal and give a bittersweet punk effect.

However, though Heatseeker is listenable and up to a decent standard, The Hedrons are not really doing anything new, and therefore, fail to leave much of a mark with this single. The album, though, remains eagerly awaited and will hopefully make more use of the attitude drenched, old school grunge vibes of this single.
